Collage New Music has commissioned new work throughout its history. The list below is organized by the funds and initiatives that made the commissions possible; works supported by more than one initiative appear in each. It is compiled from Collage's records and updated as new commissions are announced and earlier ones confirmed.

Dorothy Chang's Of All Things Elusive was commissioned by the Canada Council for the Arts.
Texu Kim's Ominous Omnibus was commissioned for Collage by the Korean Cultural Society of Boston.
Michael Gandolfi's Lowell Songs was commissioned by Joyce Linde.
The remaining thirteen 50th Anniversary commissions were made possible by the support of Nick Anagnostis, Paul and Katie Buttenwieser, John Carey, and David Oswald. Collage is deeply grateful for these commissioners' generosity. Various works have selected co-commissioning partners.

Each Collage Fellow receives a commission for a new work for Collage's core sextet. Eleven fellows have held the position since 2014.

"What is Home?" Commissioning Project
A major commissioning initiative launched with Eighth Blackbird and Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, inviting six composers to each contribute a movement to a suite responding to the question What does home mean to you? Collage gave the world premiere on April 26, 2026, at Longy School of Music, with subsequent premieres by Eighth Blackbird in Chicago and Left Coast Chamber Ensemble in San Francisco through 2027.
