Collage New
Musics Partners in Performance
program brings cutting edge new music into New
England schools. A typical Partners event features
a session in which the musicians of CNM read
and critique student compositions in an informal
workshop setting, followed by a performance
of music from the CNM repertoire, often including
commentary by Music Director David Hoose and
the composer, as well as demonstrations by the
performers.
Partners in Performance programs are tailored
to meet the needs of each host school, ranging
from one-hour concerts suitable for in-school
assemblies to day-long affairs involving sessions
with several groups of students and other members
of the school community.
In all cases, programs are designed to bring
students into close contact with composers and
performers of cutting-edge new music.
To inquire about arranging a Partners in
Performance event at your school, please

or danny@collagenewmusic.org.
Collage New Musics Partners in Performance
program is underwritten by a gift from Stephen
and Peg Senturia.

October 31,
2002
Collage New Music and acclaimed composer Tod Machover
visited Milton Academy to read and discuss student
compositions and to perform Machovers computer-driven
extravaganza, Towards the Center. The morning
reading session was attended by about 75 music
students from Milton Academy and nearby Milton
High School and featured Bob Annis (clarinet),
Ronan Lefkowiz (violin), Joel Moerschel (cello),
Chris Oldfather (piano), and CNM Music Director
David Hoose playing and discussing works by student
composers Julia Carey (Milton Academy) and John
Rutecki (Milton High School). The afternoon
concert, which included a lecture-demonstration
by Tod Machover and the musicians of CNM, was
attended by the entire Milton Academy student
body and music students from Milton High School.

piano by six young composers. The next day CNM
gave a concert that included a composition by
Stephen Hartke, Andrew Imbrie's Earplay Fantasy,
and Arnold Schoenberg's classic Pierrot Lunaire,

Hello
Collage,
I'm a Milton Academy Student, and I just wanted
to say thank you so much for coming last Thursday.
Due to my class schedule I was only able to make
it to the afternoon session, but that was absolutely
incredible. I tried to describe it to a friend later
and when I told her that you guys fell somewhere
between Mahler and Pink Floyd being played by super-talented
musicians I realized that I hadn't come even close
to doing justice to what you all performed. Again,
thank you so much.
All my best,
Rebecca A. Wilsker
Milton Academy Senior
